Heinrich Wolfanger and Anna Margertha of Kannesweiller, Germany both born around 1750 were married and had a son John Jacob Wolfanger Sept. 28, 1773. John Jacob Wolfanger married Anna Eva Schwiegel of Oberlinweiller, Germany. According to The Church Book of the Protestant Parish of Siederweiller, in the Canton of the Ducal of S.G. Goth. Neining House of Lichtanberg, Germany, the following children were born: John Jacob Wolfanger Jr., Nov. 23, 1808, Thomas Mickel Wolfanger Oct. 22, 1815, Marie Elizabeth Wolfanger May 19, 1818, and Elizabeth Wolfanger Apr. 10, 1823. John Jacob Wolfanger Jr. married Anna Catherine Oswald of Larshweiller, Germany, having one child Marie Elizabeth Wolfanger July 24, 1833. Anna (Oswald) died Jan. 30, 1834. John Jacob Wolfanger Jr. immigrated to America and took as his second wife Elizabeth Schengel who bore the following children: Jacob, Chris, George, Valentine, Mary, Kate, and Louise Wolfanger. Valentine (William) Wolfanger born June 30, 1850 New York State and Margeret Sick born Aug. 2, 1854 Wayland, NY were married June 22, 1872 at Dansville, NY. Margeret Sick was one of ten children born to Jacob and Mary (Fogel) Sick both born Germany. Valentine and Margeret (Sick) Wolfanger also had ten children as follows: Sophia Louise Feb. 22, 1874, Ida Aug. 28, 1875, Viola Dec. 5, 1877, Sarah Oct. 12, 1879, Cora Feb. 23, 1882, James Mar. 9, 1885, Margeree Nov. 11, 1887, Maude July 2, 1889, Lucy Feb. 26, 1893, and Luella Wolfanger Oct. 11, 1896.
Sophia Louise Wolfanger
Born Feb. 22, 1874 Watertown, Steuben County, NY married James (Florenz) Dempsey Sept. 7, 1889 at Keating Summit, Penn. and had three children by this marriage: Frederick Dempsey, Francis Dempsey, and Margeret Dempsey. Left a young widow when James died, Sophia Louise married Joseph Wehler born Germany and had three additional children: John Joseph Wehler June 28, 1906, Edward Urban Wehler Sep. 22, 1908, and Charles Wehler 1910. Sophia Louise Wolfanger (Dempsey Wehler) R.I.P June 26, 1937 Williamsport, Lycoming County, Penn.

Mary Louise Nangle July 3, 1923 married Charles E. Eggers at Great Neck, NY on June 17, 1944 and had the following children: Judy Ann Eggers Sept. 25, 1945 Mineola, NY, Nancy Jean Eggers Jan. 29, 1958 Roslyn, NY, and Patricia Jane Eggers Jan. 31, 1960 Roslyn, NY.
Frederick James Nangle Jr. July 30, 1927 married Geneva Edith Patrick at New York City on Sept. 17, 1944 and had the following children: Frederick James Nangle III May 5, 1957 Camden, NJ, William John Nangle Sept. 3, 1959 Camden, NJ, and Robert Russell Nangle Dec. 2, 1960 Camden, NJ.
John Joseph Nangle June 27, 1928 married Mary Ann Klement at Great Neck, NY Jan. 13, 1951 and had the following children: William James Nangle Nov. 11, 1952 Flushing, NY, Lorraine Kathleen Nangle June 26, 1955 Flushing, NY, Michael John Nangle Dec. 13, 1957 Flushing, NY, and John Joseph Nangle Jr. May 26, 1963 Syosset, NY.

Cora Wolfanger born Feb. 23, 1882 married Frank Robbins and had the following children: Viola, Evelyn, Kenneth, Helen, and James Robbins.
James Wolfanger born Mar. 9, 1885 married and had the following children: Willard, Laverne, Merle, Geraldine, and Virginia Wolfanger.
Margeret Wolfanger born Nov. 11, 1887 married Floyd Leo Smith and had the following children: Margeret, Frances, and James Smith. Margeret Smith married Guy Stonemitz and had five children. Frances Smith married Thomas Bennett and had eight children.
Maude Wolfanger born July 2, 1889 married Thomas Gehris and had the following children: Donald, Robert, Idabelle, Irene, and Thomas Gehris.
Lucy Wolfanger born Feb. 26, 1893 married William Shutters on June 30, 1914 and had the following children: Clifford Sept. 24, 1915, and Laverne Shutters July 26, 1920.
Luella Wolfanger born Oct. 11, 1896 married Harry James and had the following children: Nancy, Edwin, Howard, LeRue, and Edward James.
Mary Wolfanger daughter of John Jacob Wolfanger Jr. and Elizabeth Schwengel born July 28, 1854, married Jacob Sick Jr. born Sep. 2, 1849, son of Jacob and Mary (Fogel) Sick on June 25, 1872 at Lutheran Church, Dansville, NY. Jacob and Mary (Wolfanger) Sick Jr. had six children as follows: Elmer, Albert John, Henry, Amelia, Franklin Edward, and Julia Louisa Sick.

Both the Sick and Wolfanger line are of German ancestry as verified by official and bible records. Those that are underlined are of direct blood lines of the Wolfanger family.

Some research in 1998 indicates that the following cities were either listed wrong at some point in history (old style German can be hard to read) or the names of the cities have changed. Following are the city names according to modern maps. They are near the German, Swiss, French border.

Great information has been sent to me by Wolfgang Weingard of Remmesweiler including information about the village itself. I will be adding this information as I process it.
I'll post more info as I find it.

Remmesweiler is a small village with about 1000 inhabitants and belongs to the district St. Wendel, federal state of Saarland, Germany.
The name Wolfanger is well known as well as Sicks and Schwingel which sounds similar to Sick and Schengel.
The house of the first Wolfanger, the hunter Marcus, is still standing
